Ngati Kahu Corporation

Background

The Ngati Kahu Corporation was formed in 1992 to cater for tangihanga on behalf of members. Contributions received from members in the way of annual subscriptions would help build a Member's Fund which would be managed by a committee. The member's fund helps to reduce costs by providing a subsidy toward a member's tangihanga. The current subsidy is $1,200.00 and is generally used to purchase groceries required immediately on the first day of tangihanga.

Membership Criteria

Must be a descendant of Ngati Kahu or the spouse, partner or defacto to a Ngati Kahu descendant.

Must be over 18 years of age.

Subscriptions

Currently set at $30.00 per year – has not changed since 1992.

Annual subscription to be paid by 31 December of each year.

Annual subscription covers from January to December of each year.
