WHY REGISTER?

Important Note to Qualify for Registration:

To qualify for registration applicants MUST be descended from a Wairoa Ancestor. Whakapapa evidence may be required. Non-qualifying spouses are NOT eligible for registration however children from this union are accepted as-of-right.

What am I registering for?

The purpose of registration is to collect in a centralised place the contact details of all those who affiliate to Wairoa Hapu.

The Hapu register is a listing of tribal members belonging to Hapu of Te Wairoa including Ngāti Kahu, Ngāti Rangi and Ngāti Pango.

Registration allows YOU:

  • To identify yourself as a Hapu member.
  • To have a say. Tribal members 18 years+ can vote on tribal matters including Raupatu, Fisheries allocations, Hapu and Iwi affairs.
  • To stand for election.

Registration allows us to:

  • Improve communications to whanau o Te Wairoa. Quarterly editions of Te Putaatara (Ngāti Kahu), Kumara Vine (Ngāti Ranginui Raupatu) and Tu Ake (Ngāti Ranginui Iwi)are forwarded to registered addresses. NB Electronic
  • Provide opportunities for Hapu and Iwi members to engage with our work.
  • Plan for the future. To plan for the future, we must have knowledge of our rangatahi - our rangatahi are the future.

Tribal members under 18-years are encouraged to register. Parents or guardians may sign on behalf of minors.

If your details change:

This database stores only the information you give us, so if your contact details change, you will need to let us know.

 Notes:

  • Registration is done from a hapū and marae perspective to help people make connections back to their marae.
  • For full disclosure statements please read the terms and conditions before registering.
