Awa
Te korero tawhito i waiho mai e nga tipuna mo tatou kaitiaki - Te PuraNga mahi nanakia ana taitamariki kia Te Pura - The removal of the taniwha's eggs.
The Wairoa River has been the home to a number of Taniwha. These Taniwha have often been identified as the special link between the people and the river. The most well known being Poripori and Te Pura. Taniwha can take on many forms, naturally and spiritually, and our very own are no exceptions. The following account was recited by our own Kaumatua, Te Ruruanga Te Keeti.
